Does God Love Everyone Including Me?

1 John 4:8b,13-16
I. Uncertain of God’s Love
- Is God’s love limited to only good religious people (eg. Christians)?
- How do you think God sees you (eg. with anger, disappointment)?
II. God’s Love Calls For Us
- God is LOVE and first loved us. His agape-love can not to be earned only received. Examples: God called out to Adam & Eve, Jesus spent time with sinners (healing and forgiving them),
III. God’s Love Convicts Us
- God’s love includes His justice (love is justice and justice is love).
- Jesus’ life on earth is God’s love calling us – Jesus crucifixion is God’s justice redeeming us!
IV. God’s Love Changes & Transforms Us
- We receive a new spiritual heart for God (born again, new spiritual nature, etc.) God’s love is infused in His children to love others with agape-love. We no longer know “about” God but know God and His love given us a new desire to obey God in our love for Him.
V. Implication / Application / Reflection
- How did God speak specifically to you through this message?
- When you don’t “feel love” how do you know God still loves you?
- Will you receive God’s love offered in Christ today?
Heavenly Father, I admit I am a sinner. I need and want Your forgiveness. I accept the death of your Son, Jesus Christ, as the penalty for my sin, and recognize that Your mercy and grace is a gift You offer to me because of Your great love, not based on anything I have done. Cleanse me and make me Your child. By faith I receive Jesus Christ into my heart as the Son of God and as Savior and Lord of my life. From now on, help me live for You, with You in control. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen
