Sermon Series: COST OF DISCIPLESHIP
‘Would Be’ Disciples - Rev. T. Crowe
Key Verse(s): Luke 9:57-62 / Memory Verse(s): Ephesians 2:1-5
Key Points & Principles
Reasons for ‘Would Be’ Disciples (follow or fall away)
a. Our good intentions and enthusiasm, without first understanding the true cost in following Jesus could turn us away.
b. Fulfilling our own good reasons as most important will delay or have us fall away from being a devoted disciple.
c. The desire to go back to the good old days could deter us from focusing ahead in our commitment to follow Jesus.
d. Devoted disciples will commit their ways to Jesus above all. They understand the suffering-costs traveling on the road with Jesus. They will keep their hand on the plow looking ahead as Jesus leads them in their new way of life for His glorious purposes.
REFLECT, REPENT, BE RENEWED!
1. How did Jesus speak to you this morning? Did you receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour? If so, let us know through our WELCOME CARD! If not, what could be some of the reasons for delaying this decision?
2. Is there an area(s) in your life you haven’t fully committed to Jesus (i.e. serving, trusting, obeying)? Spend some time in prayer allowing God to speak in these reflective questions. Take the time to repent where necessary and ask for the Spirit to help guide and empower you as you move forward.
God Bless!
