SERMON NOTES
2 Corinthians 10:3-5:"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
SO HOW ARE WE ABLE TO DEMOLISH THESE BLINDSPOTS or STRONGHOLDS HIDDEN?
1. FIRST STEP: HUMBLY INVITE THE LORD TO IDENTIFY ANY HIDDEN LIES
Psalm 139:23, "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
Invite Jesus to minister to you through the Holy Spirit to make known what lies you received internally causing sin-sicknesses in your soul. He may minister to you through a memory, an event, or speak to you through your thoughts.
Spend time to write down how Jesus may be speaking to you. And listen, don’t hesitate to make a visit with me at the office. I would be grateful to help you through this.
LISTENING PRAYER: “Lord Jesus, I humbly come before you, asking You, through Your Holy Spirit, to graciously Minister to me. Would you make known any lies I accepted as truths which needs to be brought into Your Light. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen”
2. SECOND STEP: CONFESSION & REPENTANCE
Don’t be scared or take offense with these words. These are beautiful faithful responses for God’s children. Responses that God made possible in His love and grace so we may break-free and away from the Enemy’s grips and the sin-sicknesses in our soul! And then to receive His power of healing, cleansing, and wholeness possible because of the atonement Christ established on the CROSS OF CALVERY. “By His wounds, we are healed!” 1 John 1:9 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
LISTENING PRAYER: “Lord Jesus, thank you for ministering to me through your Holy Spirit. Thank you for shining Your Light into these dark and hidden areas. I’m in agreement with what you revealed and these lies that developed into sinful habits and behaviors. Thank you that by Your Blood I am forgiven. It is my desire to TURN AWAY FROM and DISOWN these lies and any related sinful habits and behaviors. I place these deeds of the flesh to death and ask for YOUR HOLY SPIRIT to EMPOWER me to be free in these areas as I move forward. In Your Great & Powerful Name, the Name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, Amen.”
3. THIRD STEP that PROTECTS you, should the Enemy tempt you with deceiving lies in the future, is to CONFESS GOD’S TRUTHS against these LIES.
This is why the Enemy wants to rob you away from God’s Word of Truth – it has Power to set you free! Mark 4:15, "Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them." John 8:32, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
LISTENING PRAYER: “Lord Jesus, You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. What LIFE-GIVING TRUTHS do you want me to know against this lie?” You might also need to find what Scriptures of God’s TRUTH counter-attacks the Devil’s lies?
**Remember each time you walk through these steps give your heart of thanksgiving to God. Thank Him for making things known. Thank Him for His faithfulness of love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness over you. Thank you for the Work He is still doing through you!
