Praying God’s Presence Over Our Future
Colossians 1:1-14, Pastor Trevor, Jan. 08, 23
I. INTRODUCTION (THE WORLD - Worldly/Church challenges)
A. Tensions and Temptations
-religious mix: Jesus is just another deity in the mix of pagan religions
-religious works: need to comply with religious laws (e.g. Torah)
-religious secrets: appeal of the secrets of spiritual powers for salvation
II. BIBLICAL CONTEXT (THE WORD - God’s address to such challenges)
A. Live a Life Worthy of the Lord
-God is the SOURCE to grant us wisdom and understanding (Scriptures)
-God is the POWER in us to fulfill His will (Spirit)
-Our hearts are to be filled with JOYFUL GRATITUDE
III. LIFE APPLICATION (THE WAY – our response as guided by God)
A. Personal
-What tensions/temptations are you struggling through as a Christian?
-What steps will you take to gain the wisdom and understanding of God this year?
B. Church Body
-What ways could you nurture and serve BAC under the below statements?
-Vision: “To Make Christ Known – To Be Known in Christ”
-Purpose: “Together, we seek to GO DEEPER in the knowledge of God,
GROW STRONGER in our journey with Christ, and humbly serve for His Kingdom purposes EMPOWERED by the Holy Spirit.”
