- growth in religious “nones”, pluralism)
- unholy witnessing & withering (abuse, immorality, fallout)
- lack of discipleship-making
II. BIBLICAL CONTEXT (THE WORD - God’s address to such challenges)
Fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)
A. What is Discipleship? Making Disciples?
- Disciple: following, being changed, and committed to Jesus
- Disciple Maker: relationship with others for spiritual reproduction
- Disciples of Jesus produce fruit and multiply (fishers of people)
B. How Did Jesus Disciple?
- prayer selecting a few who would follow Him (“come & follow me”)
- use of time & training (information, imitation, impartation)
- true witness for Jesus by being with Jesus
C. Implications/Applications
- becoming a disciple in baptism, teachings, obedience
- becoming a disciple-maker to those around you
