I. INTRODUCTION
A. The God who Disappoints & the Danger of Great Despair
- God is not complying with our expectations, timing, desires, understandings
- great despair may aim to damage your faith & trust in God
II. BIBLICAL CONTEXT
A. Seek to Jesus in Your Situation (v. 3)
- Mary and Martha sought out Jesus about Lazarus’s sickness
B. Trust in the Truths of the Great “I AM” (v.22, 24, 25, 27, 36)
- Do you believe? Martha confesses her belief in God’s goodness, resurrection at the last day, Jesus to be the promised Christ (Son of God)
- Jesus’ I AM statements in the Gospel of John: the bread of life, the light of the world, the door, the good shepherd, the resurrection and life, the way-truth-life, the vine
C. Listen and Obey the Words of Jesus (v. 38, 44)
- take away the stone
- take off the grave clothes and let him go
D. Receive the Glory of God (v. 40-41, 45)
- Jesus invites you to faithfully follow Him so you will experience His marvelous glory
- many believed as they witnessed Jesus’ power in a family crisis

- How has God disappointed you in the past? Currently?
- If Jesus asked you, “Do you believe”, what would you tell Him?
- What is Jesus asking of you to do in your disappointments?
- How will you be able to experience Jesus’ glory in your situation?
