I. Danger From Within
- Satan targets & temps members within the church
- purposes – damage unity, purity, faithfulness
II. What Is The Sin?
- lying against the Holy Spirit/God
- testing the Spirit of God
III. Where Did This Sin Come From?
- starts with temptation (pride, greed, etc.)
- appeals through personal sin-desires, etc.
IV. Why Did God Respond As Such?
- God takes Satan & Sin seriously
- holy consequences/discipline to protect the church
V. How Does This Show God’s Love & Grace For The Church?
- holy fear = healthy reverent perspective upon God
- wholehearted worship (undivided hearts)
- death-judgment in God’s hands
- sin addressed/removed = church strengthened/empowered
VI. IMPLICATIONS/APPLICATIONS/REFLECTIONS
- How did God speak to you through today’s message?
- Did your view or understanding of God or the church change? How?
- List some sin-patterns which aim to harm the church?
(i.e., gossip, talking poorly against the church, etc.)
- Is there any area the Holy Spirit is asking of you to confess and repent of? Spend time in prayer with God to find forgiveness, peace, strength, and power as you move forward.
- Pray for spiritual protection over you and your local church against the schemes of the devil.
