SERMON NOTES FOR FURTHER STUDY/REFLECTION

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE: Mark 2:1-12

INTRODUCTION
a. Why is it difficult getting to know Jesus? What are the obstacles?
b. What will it take or what are you willing to do to approach Jesus, the Son of God?
c. Who did Jesus come for and what is His purpose for us?

FAITH INVITES JESUS TO DO THE UNEXPECTED IN OUR LIVES
a. Most often than not getting to know Jesus is initiated by the determined faith & compassionate hearts of others.
(Four men in this Biblical account are determined to have their paralytic friend meet Jesus!)
b.It may take great courage, regardless of how others view you or how you view yourself, to nonetheless, draw to Jesus. (The paralytic man willingly allows his friends to bring him to Jesus.)
c.Although all are expecting Jesus to simply provide healing, Jesus sees a much greater need which reveals a much greater truth. Jesus has come to forgive sins and bring people to God! (Jesus tells the paralytic man that his sins are forgiven.)
d. Religious leaders claim Jesus is a blasphemer. Only God is able to forgive sins and provide the cleansing and healing of the body.
e. Jesus tells the paralytic man to get up, take his mat, and make his way home! Jesus reveals His authority and His power as the Messiah (God-incarnate).

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN AND WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
a. Jesus wants to set you free!
b. We need to receive the MESSAGE of SALVATION than chasing after the MIRACLE.
c. God wants your heart before anything else. His love was demonstrated on the cross by taking your sins and dying your death so you may receive forgiveness and reconciliation with God!

THIS IS YOUR MOMENT! Will you received Jesus to be Lord and Savior in your life?

“Dear Lord, I want to know You personally. I acknowledge that my sins have separated me from you. Thank you for sending Jesus who died in my place and rose again to be my Savior. I now turn to Christ to rescue me from my sin by placing my faith in Him alone for forgiveness and eternal life. Amen.” (Knowing God Personally)
