TRUTH CLAIMS FROM JESUS
- Jesus is the LIGHT of the world
- Jesus’ testimony is favored and validated by other witnesses (Himself & miracles, the Father, John the Baptists, Scriptures, Moses, - John 5:31-47)
- to know Jesus is to know God (Jesus is not of this world, sent by the Father, does what the Father reveals)
- to reject Jesus is to reject God’s love for eternal Life
- believing in Jesus and His truths will bring freedom (from the power of sin, penalty of sin, power of Satan, power of death – never see death) / spiritual children of Abraham
- before Abraham was born, I AM (Jesus existed eternally with His Father claiming divine status being God)
COUNTER CLAIMS / OPPOSITION
- testimony of Jesus is invalid with no witnesses therefore false
- Jesus’ father and origin of birth is questionable
- don’t need Jesus for freedom (trust in religious heritage and lineage through Abraham)
- Jesus is demonic (demon-possessed)
REFLECT, REPENT, BE RENEWED!
1. How did God’s Word speak to you this morning?
2. Why did the religious leaders and those supporting them carry hostile unbelief in Jesus’ testimony? Where do you find your faith challenged in who Jesus claims to be? Spend time with Jesus praying over these areas. May He speak truth by His Word and Spirit to bring freedom.
