"Emotional Spirituality?" (Message #1: Not Doing What You Think You're Doing)

Sermon Date:

Sermon Audio:

Resource used as part of our sermon study: Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter Scazzero

Weekly SPIRITUAL NOURISHMENT
• Read 1 Samuel 15:1-26

Weekly SPIRITUAL REFLECTION
•How might you relate to Saul’s experience? What emotions might be unchecked (i.e., anger, pride, fear, bitterness, etc.) that has you “doing” things for God (as you believe) rather than “being” with God (as He asks)?

Weekly SPIRITUAL APPLICATION
•Find some quiet time this week to check in with your emotions. What emotions do you need to recognize and give to God? How is God speaking to you through this process?

Principle:
"Emotional health and spiritual maturity cannot be separated. It's impossible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature...The combination of emotional health and contemplative spirituality addresses what I believe to be the missing piece in contemporary Christianity. Together they unleash the Holy Spirit inside us in order that we might know experientially the power of an authentic life in Christ." Peter Scazzero
