SERMON OUTLINE FOR FURTHER REFLECTION AND STUDY

KEY VERSE(S)
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. –Acts 2:38

Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. -Romans 6:3-4

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.–Matthew 28:19-20

GOING DEEPER - GROWING STRONGER
Renewing my Mind
1. How did this message help you understand baptism?
2. What does baptism symbolize?
3. How would you define conversion to Christianity (e.g., born-again)?
4. Why as Jesus baptized by John’s baptism? What happened to Jesus? What does this mean for His followers?
5. Why does Jesus command believers to be baptized?

Reflecting in my Heart
1. How does your life show you've died to the power of sin & self (old-nature in Adam)! Spend time praising God for this!
2. Are the "ways of your flesh" (habits, passions, desires) trying to make come back? What are some examples? How can we break away from the flesh?
3. Are you a "convert" or "disciple"? What fears, doubts, or unbelief are preventing you from being an "all-in disciple" of Jesus? Will you entrust these to Jesus?

Responding in my Faith
If you are a believer and haven't been baptized, what is holding you back? Ask God what steps you need to take and tale to your pastor/spiritual leader.
