SERMON: GREATER THAN – Sin is No Longer My Master

KEY VERSE(S): Romans 6:6-15; 1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Peter 1:3-4
I. Sin Struggles Battling Against My Faith
- sin struggles may invite Satan to taunt your faith-relationship with God (eg. create unbelief or areas of doubt – salvation, God’s love/promises, etc)
II. Faith (2 x fold)
- Receiving Faith - believes ‘about/that’ of God grounded on truth
- Responsive Faith – believes ‘in’ God and responds with obedience
-Example: Abraham’s Faith (believed, tested, approved)
III. Hold Faithful When Under Spiritual Attack
- believe and trust with confidence who you are ‘in’ Christ (e.g. eternally forgiven, justified right-standing with God; victory declared over the power of Satan and Sin)
- believe and trust Jesus as your Sanctifier - “Christ in Me” (e.g. new spiritual birth, indwelling presence and power of the Holy Spirit, partakers of the divine nature for godliness/Christ-likeness)
IV. Don’t Give Up & Turn to God’s Grace & Love
- seek your Father’s relational forgiveness and peace (1 John 1:9)
- continue to reveal your desire to REPENT (turn away from those sin-struggles)
- continue to pray for the Spirit’s power to overcome
- continue to pray for God’s wisdom that has you take action/effort
- continue to keep humble and reliant upon God
