SERMON: REDEEMING REGRET – Failure Reconciled into Greater Faith

I. MAIN SERMON NOTES
FALLING FAILURES AND RELATIONAL REGRETS WITH GOD
- guilt and remorse still lingers
- difficult to live joyfully, peacefully, and fully for the Lord
BATTLE AGAINST OUR FAITH (against trusting Jesus)
- spiritual warfare with Satan and the power of evil
- God must give permission for Satan to attack His redeemed children / God will use spiritual warfare for our discipline/growth
- Jesus intercedes for His redeemed through prayer
GODLY SORROW VS WORLDLY SORROW (2 Cor. 7:10-13)
- Peter’s love for Jesus revealed a heart of Godly sorrow leading to repentance & reconciliation with Jesus.
- Judas revealed worldly sorrow with an unrepentant heart which led into self-condemnation and despair.
HOW TO TRULY LOVE JESUS AS A FEARLESS FAITHFUL FOLLOWER
- AGAPE love for Jesus: unconditional, selfless, sacrificial revealed by actions as led by Jesus through His Word and Spirit (eg. feed and take care of my sheep)
- PHILEO love for Jesus: a deeper emotional heart-bond friendship/relationship that has the best interest and care for the other
II. APPLICATION – “Heart of Repentance”
a. Confess & repent your wrongful ways against Jesus seeking for relational forgiveness and peaceful reconciliation with God.
b. Confess your love to follow Jesus however/wherever He leads you.
