SERMON: REDEEMING REGRET
DATE: April 21, 2024, Pastor Trevor / KEY VERSE(S): John 21:1-14
I. MAIN SERMON NOTES
- EASTER CELEBRATION DIFFICULT TO EMBRACE WHEN FEELING ESTRANGED WITH JESUS
- Peter denied Jesus three times. Jesus knew this of Peter.
- Peter seems reserved and quiet when Jesus appears to the disciples. This is most likely due to the regret and remorse Peter is holding.
II. FEELING LIKE PETER?
- You may carry regret and remorse for the ways you’ve sinned or have fallen distant from Jesus.
- You may wonder if God will still forgive and use you.
- In our doubt for reconciliation with God we may revert back to our old familiar and comfortable ways which may become unfruitful and unproductive. Is this the Lord’s doing to call you back?
III. JESUS CALLS FOR YOU
- The unrecognized Christ calls to His disciples from the shorelines giving steps to draw them to Himself. Do you recognize how Jesus is trying to draw you back to Him?
IV. APPLICATION: PRAY FOR FORGIVENESS & RECONCILIATION
Gracious and loving Lord and Savior, thank you for not forsaking me in my fallen ways against you. I know I need you but felt distant and uncertain you would want me. Please forgive me of my sins knowing by Your Word, if I confess my sins God is faithful and just to forgive me and purify me from all unrighteousness. Please be my abiding source of strength and ability through the Holy Spirit to live faithfully for you as you lead me forward. In my gratitude of heart I offer to you this prayer. Amen.
God Bless!
