SCRIPTURES: Psalm 1:1-2; 139:17; 1 Cor. 2:16; Rom. 12:1-2
* As we THIRST we ENCOUNTER; as we ENCOUNTER GOD, we begin to TRANSFORM; as we TRANSFORM we will be moved to be ON MISSION (e.g., Biblical example between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well - John 4:1-42).
* REFUELING or RENEWING our RELATIONSHIP with God requires us to intake SPIRITUAL FOOD or what we call SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES.
* FIRST DISCIPLINE WE WILL EXPLORE IN THIS MESSAGE: DEVELOPING THE MIND OF CHRIST
- "Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior." Col. 1:21
- the consequence of the fall turned our mind and thoughts against God - see Gen. 6:5
- the depraved mind suppresses the truth, ignores the knowledge of God, and falls into their own lustful desires - see Rom. 1:18-31; Rom. 8:6-7
- "IGNORING GOD is INVITING SATAN to be the leader of our souls, including the thoughts of our minds"-P.Trevor
* A REDEEMED MIND IN CHRIST
- is forgiven by God for sinful thoughts and ways - see 1 John 1:9
- is cleansed by the blood of Christ - see Hebrews 9:14
- receives teaching by the Holy Spirit - see John 14:26
- a controlled mind under the Holy Spirit is one who receives life and peace with God - see Rom. 8:6
*PRINCIPLES TO HELP DEVELOP THE MIND OF CHRIST
- LISTEN DEEPLY AND RESPOND REFLECTIVELY
- How? By using the following: F.R.E.E.
-"F" FOCUS - find the intentional time to be still and quiet with God
-"R" READ GOD'S WORD - take the time to read Scripture slowly to allow God's Word to speak to you?
-"E" EXAMINE - examine yourself with the truth revealed in God's Word - see Psalm 26:2-3; Psalm 119:15
-"E" ELIMINATE - eliminate sin and disobedience by repenting and renouncing any sin(s) that the Holy Spirit makes known to you
