my transgressions to the LORD.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.” – Psalm 32:5

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9

INTRODUCTION
• Sin and the Silence of God

BLESSING OF FORGIVENESS (vv.1-2)
• Understanding Sin
o sin, transgression, iniquities, no deceit
• Blessing to be Known Forgiven by God

TESTIMONY OF REPENTANCE (vv.3-5)
• Unrepentant (our cover up)
o grief, guilt, spiritual/physical weakness,
strains relationship with God
• Repentant (God’s cover up)
o acknowledge sin in humility
o confess sin & receive forgiveness

LET THE GODLY PRAY & BE DIRECTED (vv.6-10)
• Pray for Protection & Deliverance
• Receive God’s Direction
• Trusting in the Lord lead to Confession

LET THE UPRIGHT PRAISE THE LORD (v.11)!
• Restoration for the Righteous

1. How did this message speak to you?
2. As believers, how does sin still consequently impact our relationship with God?
3. What are the different words used to describe sin?
4. What might it look like to “cherish” sin in our heart (Psalm 66:18)?
5. How does one come to realize they are in need to repent and seek God’s forgiveness?
6. How does someone confess their sin? What does it look like?
7. What does God do when we confess our sin to him?
8. Ask God to examine your heart. Is there anything in your life that you need to confess to God today?
9. Let us rejoice in the goodness and grace of God who forgives and cleanses us!
