SUMMER SERIES: SOUL CARE – Spiritual Shift (Alliance Canada)
MESSAGE: From Insecurity to being Rooted in our Identity – Rev. T. Crowe
KEY VERSES: Rom. 8:12-17 (Eph.1:3-14, 2:1-10; Jn. 15:9-17)
I. INTRODUCTION
- WHAT ASPECTS OF MYSELF AM I NOT SO SECURE ABOUT?
Insecurities often foster false beliefs, false feelings, and false fears against the love-truths and promises established rooted in Christ.
II. WORD OF THE LORD – circle/underline what stands out
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Romans 8:14-17
III. BIBLICAL CONTEXT – “IDENTITY ROOTED IN CHRIST”
- God invites all into a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.
- The Holy Spirit is not a spirit of bondage (fear) but a Spirit of adoption (family). Privileged position having an intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father (“Abba-Father”) with a heavenly inheritance.
- Spirit testifies with our spirit in prayer, conviction, and confirming work for God’s Kingdom. Sharing in Jesus’ suffering will have you share in His coming glory.
IV. APPLICATION
1. Invite the Holy Spirit to reveal false beliefs, feelings, fears, unbelief. Take time to confess them to God seeking forgiveness and renewed peace.
2. How did God speak His truths and assurances in who you truly are in Christ?
3. Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you that I am your beloved child through the covenant-relationship in Jesus Christ. Empower me to serve for your Kingdom purposed and to endure any suffering for doing so. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
God bless!
