"Surrendering into Love" (Baptism Sunday!)

Sermon Date:
Aug 28 2016
Sermon Audio:

Weekly Spiritual Nourishment (read and reread this week)
• John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9

Weekly Spiritual Reflection
• How might you find yourself trying to perform for man or for God as to earn favour?

Weekly Spiritual Application
• What are some ways you can be God's grace to others this week without any expectation in return?

Principles:
• It was the sin in all of us that gripped that hammer and nailed Him (Jesus) to the cross. Even so, Jesus was aware that in time we would realize His death would become our death in order to give us His life forever (Romans 5:8; John 3:16).

•The Holy Spirit is to prove the world wrong bringing conviction of sin and the truth about Jesus Christ who forgives our sins for eternal life(John 16:8-9; Acts 2:14-41).

•Christianity is the only religion not based on performance as though to earn favour by God or avoid His wrath. - Patrick Morley.

•You cannot earn what God is giving you as a gift in His grace (Eph. 2:8-9).

"It is not what we do that matters, but what a Sovereign God chooses to do through us. God doesn't want success; He wants us."- Charles Colson.

•"If the core of Christian obedience is listening to God's will, the core of surrender is voluntarily giving up our will. Only love can induce us to do this. But even more remarkable, not only can love make it possible, it can make it almost easy." "Ultimately, of course, this means that absolute surrender can only be offered to Perfect Love. Only God deserves absolute surrender, because only God can offer absolute dependable love." Dr. David Benner
